The 6 Best St. Louis Sports Bars for Food

2013

Lester's is the rare sports bar where the first thing that springs to mind is its food. Specifically, the sandwiches rightly deemed "colossal" on its menu: Favorites such as pastrami, corned beef (both cured in-house), brisket and turkey come piled comically high, so much so that finishing even one half of one "colossal" sandwich is a feat. (Fear not, sandwiches also come in mortal sizes.) Everything here is homemade, and considering Lester's menu encompasses soups, salads, entrees, burgers, barbecue and dessert, that's a feat as well. And what about a sports bar and grill, like Lester’s in the Central West End, just east of the intersection of Euclid and Maryland? Does the addition of “grill” mean better meals, or just more toasted ravioli, burgers and chicken wings?

A First Look at Lester's in the Central West End

2011

Nevermind that it took six months of fighting with the city, putting in new dry wall, moving the front door, adding a side extension, expanding the kitchen, redoing the basement and finishing a staircase. As Ian reported yesterday, Lester's Sports Bar and Grill has finally opened its doors.
